The Dryden Regional Health Centre is seeking to fill the following position with a highly motivated, team-orientated professional:

Medical Laboratory Technologist

Reporting to the Director - Clinical Laboratory Services, the Medical Laboratory Technologist performs a variety of diagnostic laboratory procedures to aid in patient diagnosis and treatment. Delivery of patient care and professional practice is consistent with the scope of practice of the MLT as defined by the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO), and in accordance with DRHC policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform laboratory testing across multiple disciplines including hematology, chemistry, transfusion medicine, microbiology, and urinalysis.
  • Ensure accuracy in specimen collection, preparation, analysis, and reporting of results.
  • Perform quality control testing, document results, and take corrective actions as required.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring functionality, calibration, and safety standards.
  • Adhere to departmental and hospital-wide infection control and safety protocols.
  • Communicate clearly with physicians, nurses, and other health professionals regarding results and urgent findings.
  • Participate in continuing education and departmental quality improvement initiatives.
  • Uphold patient safety and anticipate potential changes in patient condition that may require support or medical assistance.

 

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following key competencies, record of experience and academic preparation:

  • Graduate of an approved Medical Laboratory Technologist program.
  • Current registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO).
  • Minimum one (1) year current laboratory experience; recent blood bank experience is an asset.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and function effectively under pressure.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and teaching skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with co-workers and across departments.
  • Proven attendance record.
  • Proficient computer skills, including laboratory information systems.
  • Demonstrates behaviours consistent with Dryden Regional Health Centre's Code of Conduct and Standards of Behaviour.
  • Demonstrates DRHC Core Values: Accountability, Integrity, Humility, Compassion, and Respect.
  • Proof of full Covid-19 vaccination status to be presented prior to hire.

This is a Non-Union position. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience, $43.39/hr- $50.04/hr, plus up to 21% in lieu of vacation and benefits. Applicants are requested to forward a completed resume and cover letter to: hr@drhc.on.ca
