The Dryden Regional Health Centre is seeking to fill the following position with a highly motivated, team-orientated professional:


Casual Ward Clerk


Reporting to the Manager- Inpatient Services, the Ward Clerk assists in the administration of client service by performing receptionist and secretarial duties on the nursing unit pertinent to the function and maintenance of the Unit. They facilitate communication between all members of the health care team. The Ward Clerk participates in a team-oriented approach to patient care within the facility and in the promotion of continuing, family-centred care in the community. The management of confidential materials and the transcription of pharmacology and medical terminology are integral components of this job.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains patient charts and transcribes Doctor's orders
  • Communicates with patients, families and visitors; provides direction, support and information
  • Facilitates the admission process for inpatients
  • Answer phones and communicates with other providers in terms of transferring patients, booking appointments and arrangement of transportation, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Medical Terminology course required (commitment to obtain)
  • Previous experience in Pharmacology preferred
  • Demonstrable Computer and Typing skills
  • Conscientious with attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in healthcare administration would be an asset
  • Ability to organize a daily workload by priorities
  • Demonstrates behaviours consistent with Dryden Regional Health Centre's Code of Conduct and Standards of Behaviour
  • Proven attendance record
  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the job
  • Demonstrates DRHC Core Values; Accountability, Integrity, Humility, Compassion and Respect
