Manager- Inpatient Department

Reporting to the Director - Inpatient & Emergency Services, the Manager - Inpatient Department is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Inpatient Unit. As a member of the Operations Management & Leadership Team, the Manager provides leadership to support quality patient care, staff engagement, patient safety, and continuous improvement while promoting the Mission, Vision and Values of Dryden Regional Health Centre.

Requirments:

  • Provide operational leadership for the Inpatient Unit.
  • Promote a collaborative, patient- and family-centred approach to care.
  • Support strategic priorities through staff rounding, patient rounding, huddles, and AIDET.
  • Work collaboratively with Team Leads and Shift Managers to support staffing, patient flow, workload management, and patient safety.
  • Foster a healthy, collaborative, and engaged team environment.
  • Lead recruitment, orientation, performance management, attendance management, and staff engagement activities.
  • Ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality nursing care while promoting compliance with professional, regulatory, and organizational standards.
  • Support quality improvement, accreditation activities, patient safety initiatives, and evidence-informed nursing practice.
  • Investigate and respond to incidents, complaints, and adverse events to promote continuous improvement and quality outcomes.
  • Participate in operational planning, capital planning, equipment management, and budget development.
  • Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and community partners to support continuity of care and positive patient outcomes.
  • Participate in leadership activities, organizational committees, and strategic initiatives as required.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following key competencies, record of experience and academic preparation:

  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) preferred.
  • Minimum five (5) years of medical nursing experience preferred.
  • Previous leadership experience considered an asset.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Advanced Life Support (ALS), Neonatal/Pediatric Advanced Life Support (NRP/PALS), and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) considered assets.
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrates behaviours consistent with DRHC's Code of Conduct, Standards of Behaviour and Core Values.

Immunization record, including proof of Covid-19 vaccination status, must be presented prior to hire.

This is a management position with a comprehensive benefits package and participation in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP). Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience $119,652- $122,733 /per annum based on 1950 hours.
