Permanent Full-Time Emergency Nurse Practitioner

 

 

The Dryden Regional Health Centre is seeking to fill the following position:

Permanent Full-Time Emergency Nurse Practitioner

Reporting to the Director- Inpatient & Emergency Services, the Emergency Nurse Practitioner provides clinical support to the physician in the Emergency Department, and may also assume responsibility for providing care within the scope of a Nurse Practitioner.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate and collaborate with other health care providers in the provision of patient care
  • Assesses patients by obtaining relevant history, completing physical exam and diagnosing
  • Perform comprehensive health assessments within the scope of the Nurse Practitioner's role
  • Initiates orders for treatments, medications, and diagnostic tests according to findings and collaborates with physicians, primary care providers and family health teams as needed
  • Develops medical treatment plans
  • Evaluates outcomes based on clinical skills/judgment and patient improvements
  • Provides learning opportunities for students and other professional staff
  • Refers to other care providers as appropriate
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following key competencies, record of experience and academic preparation:

  • Registered Nurse Extended Class License in good standing with the College of Nurses Ontario
  • Current CPR
  • Experience working in an Emergency Department as RN or NP
  • Demonstrate skill in cultural safety, which encompasses cultural sensitivity, competency and humility
  • Ability to work independently and self-direct / take initiative
  • Ability to lead by example and to mentor and motivate others
  • Demonstrates behaviours consistent with Dryden Regional Health Centre's Code of Conduct and Standards of Behaviour
