The Dryden Regional Health Centre is seeking to fill the following position with a highly motivated, team-orientated professional:

Manager-Emergency & Ambulatory Care

Reporting to the Director- East Unit, Emergency & Ambulatory Care, the Manager- Emergency & Ambulatory Care is a member of the Operations Management & Leadership team who works collaboratively with the Nursing Leadership Team that oversees day-to-day operations in the Emergency & Ambulatory Care departments. They maintain clinical skills and knowledge necessary to be a reliable and competent resource person for staff members. Through the use of leadership skills, management tools and an understanding of the decision making process, the Manager-Emergency & Ambulatory Care will work collaboratively with the Nursing leadership team to achieve departmental goals and to assist in the formulation of plans that precipitate optimal function of patient care services keeping in mind the Mission, Vision and Values and Strategic Plan of the organization as well as Standards and Best Practices.

Requirments:

  • Participates in the administration and management of Emergency & Ambulatory Care
  • Plays a major role in promoting a team approach to patient care within the facility and in the provision of continuing, family-centred care in the community
  • Assists the senior management team in planning and decision-making on an operational and strategic basis
  • To uphold the Standards of Behaviour daily through interactions with others as an employee of the Dryden Regional Health Centre (DRHC)
  • Promotes DRHC strategic priorities in daily practice: huddles, staff rounding, patient rounding, AIDET
  • Performs duties according to current legislation, DRHC polices and procedures
  • Adopt and implement innovative nursing practices to improve our facility
  • Works with Nursing staff to promote and restore patients' health by day-to-day management and long-term planning of patient care needs; directing and developing staff; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary professional staff
  • Making patient and ward rounds on a regular basis to evaluate unit acuity and staffing
  • Working with the Shift Managers to determine any staffing needs
  • Ensure continual delivery of high quality nursing care
  • Ensure that nursing staff remains in compliance with professional development and regulatory standards
  • In collaboration with the Shift Managers, provides feedback to nursing workload to ensure patient safety and fiscal responsibility in coordination with Human Resources
  • Deal with staff issues and problems as they arise. Complete and provide appropriate documentation to HR
  • Takes lead in HR practices affecting the Emergency & Ambulatory Care departments; recruitment, orientation, performance management and staff engagement. Knowledgeable of union contracts for all hospital employees
  • Support patient safety initiatives; including but not limited to Fall prevention, least restraint, infection control practices, flagging violent patients, medication reconciliation, medication safety practices, Senior Friendly Hospital initiatives, etc.
  • Promote best practices for standards of care
  • Recognize respond and report adverse events; ensure the affected departments, physicians and family members are notified; ensure investigation and documentation is complete
  • Maintains awareness of interdisciplinary communication through participation in multidisciplinary bullet rounds, family and interdisciplinary case conferences, discharge planning strategies, care planning in huddles and thorough reports between shifts and disciplines
  • Maintains awareness of all administrative, data collection and documentation standards of the unit and organization
  • Participate in Capital planning process. Oversees the monitoring of equipment and reports equipment need for maintenance
  • Active participation in all organizational Accreditation activity

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree or equivalent preferred
  • Certification of Competence with College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Minimum 5 years nursing experience
  • Advanced Life Support, Neonatal/Paediatric Advanced Life Support, Trauma Core Course and
  • Current CPR certification
  • Leadership experience an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary health care team
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Neonatal Advanced Life Support Certificate would be an asset
  • Experience working in Emergency, Critical Care and OBS preferred
  • Efficient computer skills
  • Demonstrates behaviours consistent with Dryden Regional Health Centre's Code of Conduct and Standards of Behaviour
  • Demonstrates DRHC Core Values; Accountability, Integrity, Humility, Compassion and Respect
  • Proof of full Covid-19 vaccination status to be presented prior to hire
