The following leadership opportunity is available to applicants interested in leading the safe, efficient and reliable operation of the Health Centre's facilities, infrastructure and building systems.

Manager - Facilities

Reporting to the Director - Information Technology & Facilities/Chief Information Officer, the Manager - Facilities provides strategic and operational leadership for the Health Centre's facilities, engineering, maintenance and grounds services. As a member of the Operations Management & Leadership Team, this position is responsible for ensuring a safe, reliable and efficient physical environment that supports exceptional patient care, staff safety, regulatory compliance and the long-term sustainability of the organization's infrastructure.

Requirments:

  • Provide operational leadership for the Engineering, Maintenance and Grounds teams.
  • Oversee the maintenance, repair and performance of all hospital buildings, infrastructure, utilities and building systems.
  • Lead preventative maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability and minimize operational downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, accreditation standards, CSA requirements, fire and building codes, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate and oversee facility renovations, infrastructure upgrades and capital projects from planning through completion.
  • Develop and manage departmental operating and capital budgets while ensuring responsible stewardship of resources.
  • Manage service contracts, vendor relationships and procurement activities.
  • Provide leadership for emergency preparedness, disaster planning, fire safety and business continuity initiatives.
  • Support building infrastructure risk management and environmental sustainability initiatives.
  • Lead recruitment, performance management, staff development and employee engagement activities.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, continuous improvement and exceptional customer service.
  • Collaborate with clinical and operational leaders to support organizational priorities and strategic initiatives.
  • Participate in organizational committees and leadership activities as required.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following key competencies, record of experience and academic preparation:

  • Post-secondary education in Engineering Technology, Building Systems, Facilities Management, Trades or a related discipline.
  • Minimum five (5) years of progressive experience in facilities, plant operations or building services, preferably within a healthcare or similarly complex environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing unionized staff in an operational environment.
  • Fourth Class Operating Engineer Certification (or higher) preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing building systems, preventative maintenance programs and infrastructure operations.
  • Experience leading capital projects, contractor management and departmental budget planning.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable legislation including the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Fire Code, Building Code and healthcare regulatory standards.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively across departments.
  • Demonstrates behaviours consistent with DRHC's Code of Conduct, Standards of Behaviour and Core Values.

Immunization record, including proof of Covid-19 vaccination status, must be presented prior to hire.

This is a management position with a comprehensive benefits package and participation in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP). Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience $110,214- $114,641/per annum based on 1950 hours.
