The Dryden Regional Health Centre is seeking to fill the following Permanent Full-Time position:

Mobile Crisis Worker

The Mobile Crisis Worker plays a critical role in supporting individuals experiencing mental health and substance use crises within the community. This position provides immediate crisis response, assessment, and intervention across multiple settings including the community, Emergency Department, and in collaboration with police services. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the Mobile Crisis Worker helps individuals stabilize, navigate available supports, and connect with appropriate mental health and social services. This role is ideal for a highly adaptable professional who thrives in dynamic environments and is committed to providing compassionate, client-centered care.

Responsibilities:

  • Respond collaboratively with police to community calls for service, including follow-up and wellness checks
  • Provide crisis assessment, intervention, and support via telephone, in the community, Emergency Department, or police settings
  • Deliver brief, solution-focused counselling to individuals awaiting access to ongoing mental health services
  • Determine need for on-site crisis response and appropriate level of intervention
  • Support diversion of mental health-related visits from Emergency Department and police services where appropriate
  • Provide information, referrals, and linkage to community mental health and social service resources
  • Liaise with families, mental health professionals, emergency personnel, and Schedule 1 facilities to support acute care admissions under the Mental Health Act
  • Assist nursing staff with suicide watches and support high-risk patients as required
  • Participate in stabilization planning, including wellness planning and referrals to treatment programs
  • Maintain effective working relationships with internal teams, community partners, and external agencies
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation in accordance with organizational and professional standards
  • Promote patient safety by recognizing, responding to, and reporting potential risks or adverse events

Qualifications:

The role of Mobile Crisis Worker requires strong clinical judgment, crisis intervention expertise, and the ability to work effectively in high-pressure, unpredictable environments.

The ideal candidate will possess the following key competencies, record of experience and academic preparation:

  • Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field (preferred)
  • Membership in the College of Social Work or equivalent regulatory body (e.g., CRPO, RN/RPN) required
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing mental health crises and/or substance use challenges
  • Training in suicide intervention (e.g., ASIST) and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention
  • Demonstrated ability to provide crisis assessment, intervention, and brief counselling
  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills in high-risk situations
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Flexibility to work days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Valid Ontario Driver's License with access to a reliable vehicle and $2 million liability insurance
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Demonstrates behaviours consistent with Dryden Regional Health Centre's Code of Conduct and Standards of Behaviour

  • Must provide immunization record including Covid-19 vaccination prior to hire

This is a unionized position. Annual salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience within the range of $70,512 - $78,819.
