The Dryden Regional Health Centre is seeking to fill the following position with a highly motivated, team-orientated professional:

Permanent Part-Time

Shift Manager

Reporting to the Director, Inpatient & Emergency Services, the Shift Manager is a member of the Operations Management & Leadership team and provides hospital-wide operational leadership during evening coverage (Monday to Thursday, 15:30-19:30). The Shift Manager works collaboratively with Nursing Leadership to support day-to-day operations across inpatient and emergency services and acts as the manager on-site in the absence of other managers.

Requirements:

  • Upholds the Standards of Behaviour daily through interactions with others as an employee of the Dryden Regional Health Centre
  • Promotes best practices for standards of care
  • Works with Nursing staff to promote and restore patients' health by day-to-day management and long-term planning of patient care needs; directing and developing staff; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary professional staffs; providing physical and psychological support for patients, friends, and families
  • Makes patient and ward rounds on a regular basis to evaluate patient acuity and staffing. Ensuring patients and their families are aware of patient information, including all rights and responsibilities, and assisting in the planning for discharge.
  • Ensures continual delivery of high quality nursing care
  • Manages workload and creating nursing assignments
  • In collaboration with the unit manager, provides feedback to nursing workload to ensure patient safety and fiscal responsibility in coordination with Human Resources
  • Maintains a healthy, collaborative team environment
  • Manage staff issues and concerns as they arise and ensure thorough communication- complete and provide appropriate documentation to the unit leadership
  • Actively participates in staff mentoring and education opportunities
  • Takes a leading role in patient flow and movement through departments and systems; new admission bed assignments, facilitate travel arrangements for treat and returns

Qualifications:

  • BScN, PN Diploma, or equivalent education with designation/registration in a Health Care related field
  • RNs/RPNs must have current registration with College of Nurses of Ontario; Registration with appropriate governing body is required for related fields as appropriate
  • Minimum 5 years Health Care experience, Nursing experience preferred
  • Leadership Experience is an asset
  • Sound clinical background and strong health assessment and diagnostic skills
  • BLS, Advanced Life Support, Neonatal/Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Trauma Core Course an asset
  • Effective organizational and written skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary health care team
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Neonatal Advanced Life Support Certificate would be an asset
  • Experience working in Emergency, Critical Care and OBS would be an asset
  • Efficient computer skills
  • Demonstrates behaviours consistent with Dryden Regional Health Centre's Code of Conduct and Standards of Behaviour
  • Demonstrates DRHC Core Values; Accountability, Integrity, Humility, Compassion and Respect
  • Proof of full Covid-19 vaccination status to be presented prior to hire
