Permanent Part-Time Speech Language Pathologist

 

 

The Dryden Regional Health Centre is seeking to fill the following position:

Permanent Part-Time Speech Language Pathologist

Reporting to the Manager- Rehabilitation Services, the Speech Language Pathologist assesses and treats inpatient and outpatient communication disorders (speech, language, and hearing) and swallowing impairment (dysphagia). They are an advocate for patients and families regarding issues specific to communication and dysphagia, and provide education and best practice guidance, also acting as a clinical educator for high school co-op, volunteer and health professional students.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess patients referred by a primary care provider and perform further clinical investigations as indicated
  • Plan intervention strategy that addresses the prognosis and incorporates the application of selected approaches and techniques supported by the best evidence available
  • Implement appropriate treatment programs in accordance with professional standards, code of ethics, rules of conduct, and in adherence to hospital and departmental policies and procedures
  • Recommend portions of treatment programs to patients, family, and other members of health care team as appropriate; provide direction and support to Rehabilitation Assistants with respect to implementing prescribed treatment programs
  • Provides the patient with information required in order to make an informed decision regarding treatment
  • Knowledge in and responsibility to upgrade assessment and treatment techniques; Demonstrate competency and accuracy in the selection and use of assessment techniques, treatments and equipment for a variety of conditions.

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology
  • Must be a member in good standing with CASLPO
  • Demonstrated ability to apply theoretical knowledge in problem solving and troubleshooting
  • Ability to communicate clearly, teach, problem solve and organize
  • Flexibility and willingness to work as part of team
  • Effective organizational and written skills
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Able to work and manage a case load independently and with other multi-disciplinary team members
  • Demonstrates behaviours consistent with the Dryden Regional Health Centre's Code of Conduct,
  • Standards of Behaviour and with the DRHC Core Values; Accountability, Integrity, Humility, Compassion and Respect
  • Proof of Covid-19 vaccination to be presented prior to hire

This is a Non Union position; salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience $46.64-$53.22/hr. with an additional 21% in lieu of benefits. Applicants are requested to forward a completed resume and cover letter to hr@drhc.on.ca
