The Dryden Regional Health Centre is seeking to fill the following position with a highly motivated, team-orientated professional:

Physician Recruitment, Retention & Relations Coordinator

Reporting to the Vice President - Human Resources/Support Services, the Physician Recruitment, Retention & Relations Coordinator is directly responsible for the recruitment and retention of health professionals to meet the needs of the DRHC and the Dryden Area, as well as to serve as Administrative liaison with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine for medical students and residents. This role will also facilitate effective communication, collaboration, and partnership between physicians and Dryden Regional Health Centre to ultimately improve patient care and outcomes.


The Physician Recruitment, Retention & Relations Coordinator is responsible for implementing the community recruitment and retention strategy that includes:

  • Awareness and understanding of HHR Physician models
  • Research and coordinate opportunities for government funding opportunities
  • Attending physician professional recruitment fairs and events
  • Marketing and selling the community to prospective physicians
  • Establishing and maintaining contacts with students, residents and qualified practitioners
  • Screening potential candidates
  • Arranging and planning site visits
  • Negotiating return of service arrangements
  • Assisting with relocation planning and orientation of family members to the community

The Physician Recruitment, Retention & Relations Coordinator is responsible for providing administrative liaison support (Site Administrative Coordinator (SAC)) for medical students and residents from the Northern Ontario School of Medicine that includes:

  • Support of the NOSM community based programs, learners, and stakeholders
  • General support to all NOSM learners
  • Clinical and Academic scheduling
  • Evaluations and assessment support
  • Organizing education and placements
  • Submitting documentation on behalf of the learners to NOSM as required
  • Communication with NOSM administration and clinical teachers
  • Attending NOSM meetings and events
  • Arranging events as required.

The Physician Recruitment, Retention & Relations Coordinator is responsible for building relationships between the Physicians and DRHC, duties include:

  • Cultivating relationships with physicians
  • Arranging networking, education, and recognition events as required
  • Foster collaboration between physicians, DRHC, and community partners
  • Dryden Regional Emergency Room Group - scheduling, coordination with Health Force Ontario for specialists and locum physicians
  • Works directly with the Fundraiser to support physician recruitment



The ideal candidate will possess the following key competencies, record of experience, and academic preparation:

  • Post secondary education in Human Resources Management or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years equivalent work experience
  • Familiarity with recruiting and applicant tracking systems
  • Awareness of physician funding models
  • Complete knowledge of recruitment practices and procedures
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Excellent networking and presentation skills
  • Demonstrates behaviours consistent with Dryden Regional Health Centre's Code of Conduct and Standards of Behaviour
  • Demonstrates DRHC Core Values; Accountability, Integrity, Humility, Compassion and Respect
  • Proof of full Covid-19 vaccination status to be presented prior to hire
