The Dryden Regional Health Centre is seeking to fill the following position with a highly motivated, team-orientated professional at The Dryden Area Family Health Team:

Temporary Full-Time Registered Practical Nurse

Reporting to the Director- Family Health Team, the Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) provides direct primary care within their full scope of practice and participates in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of services for individuals, and families. The RPN works collaboratively as a member of the interdisciplinary team and follows the patient through all stages of growth and development, through degrees of wellness and illness, from one setting to another to provide comprehensive primary care and chronic disease management

Responsibilities:

  • Obtains a history of the presenting health issue (s)
  • Uses and adapts assessment tools and techniques based on the patient's needs
  • Completes and documents vitals and thorough medical history
  • Administers medications
  • Documents health assessment and clinic data in the EMR
  • Wound care
  • When required, reviews lab results and forwards reports requiring attention to the physician/ nurse practitioner
  • Supports the coordination of services and care with the patient to ensure continuity and follow-up
  • Assesses the immunization status of all patients and ensures immunizations are current
  • Collaborates with the NWHU to develop and deliver an immunization plan to patients due or overdue
  • Provides screening for health issues
  • Prepares examination rooms for treatment
  • Assists physicians and Nurse Practitioners
  • Patient reception.
  • Assists with influenza clinics
  • Assists with Diabetes Days when requested by physician or Diabetes Educator
  • Assists physicians and NPs as needed

Qualifications:

  • Current Certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current CPR
  • Good Physical health
  • Demonstration of strong nursing practice, skill and judgment
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills including superior verbal communication abilities
  • Demonstrates behaviours consistent with Dryden Regional Health Centre's Code of Conduct and Standards of Behaviour
  • Able to perform the essential duties of the job
  • Willing to work flexible hours, including days, evenings and weekends
  • Demonstrates DRHC Core Values; Accountability, Integrity, Humility, Compassion and Respect
  • Proof of full Covid-19 vaccination status to be presented prior to hire
