The Volunteer Greeter Program was established in the spring of 2004.

This program has evolved from greeting patients and their families to an integral service at our facility. Volunteers assist in many areas of the hospital and their duties include:

  • Information Desk
  • Surgical Day Care
  • In-patient Water Delivery
  • Red Tray Program
  • Survey Completions
  • Friendly Visiting
  • Specialty Clinic Office Assistant
  • Volunteer Scheduling and
  • Language Interpreter

Canadian Cancer Society volunteers assist in the Oncology unit and with "Still Me", a program for patients who are undergoing cancer treatment.

DRHC Auxiliary volunteers operate the Gift Shop as well as fundraising to support the delivery of high-quality healthcare in our community.

The volunteer role has provided a tremendous impact on the delivery of quality service to patients and their families. We also offer opportunities for high school students to fulfill their community service requirements.
