The department is equipped with a digital x-ray machine. The images are sent electronically to Radiologists who interpret the image and send the report back to the physician who ordered the x-ray. The images are stored on a Picture Archival and Communication system (PACS), which allows Physicians to see the images from their office.
Intravenous Pyelogram (IVP): what is it and what should I know?
- An IVP is an x-ray examination of the kidneys and urinary system. Contrast medium is injected into the veins, it travels through the blood stream and collects in the kidneys and urinary tract turning these areas bright white on the x-ray images. An IVP allows the radiologist to view and assess the anatomy and function of the kidneys, ureters and the bladder.
- Patients with diabetes who take Metformin should follow the instructions for precautions after the procedure.
