The Dryden Regional Health Centre is seeking to fill the following position:

Casual Accounting Clerk

The Accounting Clerk is an integral member of the Financial Services team and is responsible for the prompt and timely invoicing of charges and the prompt and timely receipt and depositing of all monies collected in the name of the Dryden Regional Health Centre.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform all accounting functions related to billing, adjustments, and collections for all types of hospital-related revenues in a timely manner
  • Create and process transaction batches for charges, receipts, adjustments, and refunds
  • Answer patient and client inquiries in a calm, patient, and courteous manner
  • Prepare bank deposits and complete daily and monthly balancing of all receipts
  • Reconcile patient and client accounts on a routine basis
  • Provide information about receivables for reporting purposes
  • Work closely with other Accounting Clerks to ensure all accounts receivable and accounts payable functions are operating in accordance with organizational requirements
  • Maintain financial security by following established internal accounting controls

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following key competencies, record of experience and academic preparation:

  • College Business Diploma with a major in Finance/Accounting required
  • Minimum one year of experience working within a finance or accounting department, preferably in a healthcare setting
  • Experience in accounts payable and accounts receivable processes considered an asset
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Knowledge of computer-based accounting systems
  • Highly motivated team player with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the position
  • Demonstrates behaviours consistent with Dryden Regional Health Centre's Code of Conduct and Standards of Behaviour
  • Demonstrates DRHC Core Values; Accountability, Integrity, Humility, Compassion and Respect
  • Immunization record with Covid-19 vaccination status to be presented prior to hire

This is a union position. Compensation will be as per the Collective Agreement, starting at $28.01/hr., with an additional 11% in lieu of benefits. Applicants are requested to forward a completed resume and cover letter to: hr@drhc.on.ca
