Permanent Part-Time Clinical Information Clerk

The Dryden Regional Health Centre is seeking to fill the following position with a highly motivated, team-orientated professional:
Permanent Part-Time Clinical Information Clerk


Reporting to the Manager- Clinical Information, Clinical Information Clerks ensure that all patients are properly registered and/or admitted in Patient Registration and the Emergency departments, ensure that Health Records are kept up to date, as well as process statistical data relevant to the census of the hospital. This 0.8 FTE position is scheduled over a multi-week rotation and includes 7-hour day, evening and weekend shifts.

Responsibilities:

Reception / Registration of Clients / Departmental Operations

  • Receiving clients and visitors and interviewing clients to ensure complete patient profile and processing in Admission, Discharge and Transfer system.
  • Registration, form creation, chart creation
  • Performing switchboard duties
  • Inspection of Health Numbers for validity for all Ontario Clients
  • Bill payments, cash reception, receipting of hospital supplied material
  • Copying, paging, stocking of departmental items
  • Collection and storage of patient valuables / cash
  • Applying postage to mail for hospital departments
  • Opening / Start-up of office daily

Filing onto Health Record

  • Quality Assessment of forms (completion, authentication, etc.)
  • Insertion of reports, orders, results into proper standardized format on Health Record
  • Location and recording of Health Records for transport to other areas

Statistical Reporting

  • Daily Preliminary and official census reports
  • Daily reports for other departments

Other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Medical Terminology course required (commitment to obtain)
  • Experience in healthcare administration would be an asset
  • Demonstrates behaviours consistent with Dryden Regional Health Centre's Code of Conduct and Standards of Behaviour
  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the job

  • Immunization record to be presented prior to hire
