The Dryden Regional Health Centre is seeking to fill the following position with a highly motivated, team-orientated professional:

Temporary Full-Time

Mental Health Therapist

The Mental Health Therapist provides assessment, therapeutic intervention and care coordination to individuals experiencing mental health concerns. Working within an interdisciplinary Mental Health & Addictions team, the role collaborates with patients, families, healthcare providers and community partners to promote continuity of care and facilitate access to appropriate services.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct initial and ongoing clinical assessments and develop individualized treatment plans using a variety of therapeutic modalities and evidence-based practices.
  • Deliver individual and group therapy, psychoeducation, and supportive counseling based on client needs.
  • Monitor client progress, document clinical encounters, and maintain accurate, timely records in accordance with DRHC and Dryden Regional Mental Health & Addictions Services standards.
  • Provide referrals, linkages, and advocacy with internal and external partners, including culturally appropriate supports, psychiatrists, probation/parole, community services, and financial/social programs.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary case conferences, collaborative care planning, and discharge planning.
  • Attend client appointments in the community or client homes as required.
  • Uphold professional standards, ethical practice, and DRHC's Code of Conduct and Core Values.
  • Participate in program development, quality improvement activities, and professional development.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Social Work/Psychology/Psychiatric Nursing or related discipline
  • Must have current, or in the process of receiving, registration with the appropriate college e.g. (RP, SW, RN OT)
  • Two years' experience in mental health counselling
  • Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of addiction, serious mental illness, trauma, depression & anxiety
  • Consistently integrates best practices and evidence-based approaches in treatment
  • Training in suicide intervention
  • Effective organizational and written skills
  • Superior ability to work and manage a case load independently and liaise with other multi-disciplinary members to advocate for client needs
  • Valid Ontario Driver's License
  • Proven attendance record
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Able to perform the essential duties of the job
  • Demonstrates behaviours consistent with Dryden Regional Health Centre's Code of Conduct and Standards of Behaviour
  • Demonstrates DRHC Core Values; Accountability, Integrity, Humility, Compassion and Respect
  • Immunization record, including proof of Covid-19 vaccination status must be presented prior to hire

This is a Temporary, Non-Union position with an approximate duration of 14 months. Annual salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, ranging from $93,542 to $99,353, plus up to 21% in lieu of vacation and benefits.
