DRHC provides numerous surgical services to our patients. We have 2 General surgeons who offer endoscopy and general surgical support, which includes 24 hour emergency surgery coverage. Our team is rounded out with 2 Anaesthetists, a team of nurses, support clerks, as well as a team of certified medical device re-processing technicians.

Our department includes 2 surgical suites, an endoscopy/minor procedure room, and a Reprocessing department.

Through Health Force Ontario (HFO) we are able to secure a roster of visiting specialists that offer care closer to home to reduce the amount of travel required to access medical care. We currently offer Orthopedic, Urology, Gynecology, ENT, and Plastics in addition to our general surgery program. We work with a regional team to support these developing programs as a regional surgical service.

In order to be seen by a surgeon, your health care provider/family physician must refer you for surgical services.

This will start the pathway to an initial surgical assessment with the surgeon, consent for surgery as required, to a pre-anaesthetic assessment, potential further diagnostics, to pre-op teaching appointment and right up to your pre-op courtesy call. These care pathways may differ slight depending on specialty care you require.

If at any time along you have questions, please do not hesitate to call our team at 223-8200 ext.1280 and they will direct your call to the most appropriate person to field these questions.
